The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) recently proposed housing goals for both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac for 2022 through 2024, which are designed to ensure the GSEs responsibly promote equitable access to affordable housing that reaches low and moderate-income families, minority communities, rural areas, and other underserved populations.
According to the FHFA’s press release, the agency is also proposing two new single-family home purchase sub-goals to replace the existing low-income sub-goal, with one targeting minority communities and the other targeting low-income neighborhoods.
The FHFA has invited the public to comment on its proposed housing goals within 60 days of their publication in the Federal Register, which is October 25th. For all the details, or to submit a comment, check out the FHFA’s 2022-2024 Enterprise Housing Goals Proposed Rule.
